В Бангладеш произошло четвертое за полгода убийство на религиозной почве. В пятницу вооруженные мачете неизвестные напали на 40-летнего блогера Нилоя Нила, придерживавшегося атеистических взглядов и критиковавшего религиозный радикализм. Об этом сообщает Reuters.

President Hamid faces tough challenges
With tremendous challenges ahead, veteran leader Abdul Hamid was elected unopposed Monday as the president of Bangladesh which has been reeling under a violent political stand-off between the ruling and the main opposition parties.

“Abdul Hamid, speaker of the National Assembly, is elected president of Bangladesh as per section 7 of the Presidential Election Law 1991,” said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed in a formal announcement on Monday morning.

On December 28, 2014, President Abdul Hamid of Bangladesh met with Wang Yi at the Banga Bhaban in Dhaka.

Hamid expressed that China is a sincere friend of Bangladesh and Bangladesh thanks China for providing long-term and valuable support to Bangladesh’s economic and social development. China is leading Asia’s development and Bangladesh hopes to take the opportunity of China to attract Chinese investment, conduct cooperation on major infrastructure projects, build industrial parks, tap into human resources and promote employment in Bangladesh. China’s initiative of the construction of «Belt and Road» is very beneficial for regional development and Bangladesh will participate actively. Bangladesh is willing to work with China to accelerate the construction of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor.

China to help Bangladesh leverage geographical advantages

Beijing is also ready to work with Bangladesh to speed up construction of this economic corridor.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed this to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during his visit that concluded on Monday, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

Wang said both “Chinese dream and Bangladeshi dream are connected and represent the aspiration of pursuing better life of the two peoples”.

He noted that “China is willing to seek common development and prosperity with its neighbouring countries and enhance investment in them”.

And in this regard he said “China will take Bangladesh as an important cooperative partner in its periphery, especially in South Asia”

President, PM mourn Saudi King’s death

Bangladesh President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have joined the global leaders to mourn the death of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
